Herman Shierholz

Madeline Florence (Shaw) Schierholz

Domino Club, Lansing ca1860's

Aunt Mattie's "Domino Club." The picture probably was taken in the 1860's considering the 'hoop' skirts. Aunt Mattie is second female from the right. She would have been in her late teens or early 20's. The others in the picture are not identified.

Mattie was Madeline Florence (Shaw) Schierholz, wife of Herman Schierholz. Herman & Mattie (my g-g uncle & aunt) lived on a large Victorian house on Front Street in Lansing. Paddle Steamboats docked just across the street.

Herman & Mattie wrote a Journal when they took trips from Lansing .... abroad in 1892, a second trip to the southern U.S. in 1894 and a trip to Canada & Europe in 1900.

The Journal was transcribed by their gg-niece Darlene Johnson. Darlene has also included information about some of the places they visited, as well as Shierholz family photos and other family information in the file.
