Four brothers, by age: Frank, John, Daniel & Charles
Women in back: Anna & Dolly
Seated L-R: Mary Alice, Mary Mallisa & Maria Jane

Photo is ca1920-1930 (Mary Mallisa died in 1931)

Kathy's notes: I think the brothers are captioned in order. Definately Charles on the far right. I believe there was a resemblance between Dan and Charles, so Dan is the shorter man in the middle.

Left-Right: Mary Melissa (Fish) Love, Clyde Kinney, Maria Jane 'Jennie' (Love) Kinney, and Clyde's firstborn child is held by Jennie.

Pictured is Mary Melissa Fish, 1850-1931, wife of Abner Love, of Allamakee, with her first born daughter Maria Jane "Jennie" Love Kinney; Jennie's oldest son Clyde, and I am guessing Clyde's first child, who was born in 1921. Jane lived in the county, Lansing and New Albin about 1880-1905. The photo may have been taken in Minneapolis, where the Kinneys lived.

We don't know much about Jennie's husband Charles Kinney. He came to Iowa from New York, his parents are unknown. There is a story on an Ancestry family tree that he was an orphan.

A history of the Fish log cabin (link) gives the following information: The log cabin was built by John Fish Sr. for his daughter, Mary Melissa, and her husband, Abner Love. Abner Love, of Yankee origin, was born at Bad Axe, while Melissa was of Irish descent and was born near St. Croix. They were married in Lansing and lived with her parents on the John Fish Sr. farm for a time before her father erected the cabin several miles to the north. Abner and Melissa had nine children -- four boys and five girls. (Photos and more about the Fish log cabin)
