- This data-base is a list of early marriages transcribed by Allamakee county researcher Jan Miller. She found errors, discrepancies & contradictions in the early marriages data-base compiled by the Iowa Society DAR in the early 1930's. So -- she compiled her own list, utilizing the Marriage Index located at the Allamakee Co. Courthouse in Waukon, Iowa. Jan's transcription appears below. A red * indicates a record that differs in some respect from the DAR records. A green* indicates a note at the bottom of this page.
- Researchers should utilize both of these data-bases and compare them. In each case, if there is a further question, the original record should be consulted.

*Note from Dorothy Franks (6/24/2013): Andrew Rudd age 74 and Larina Barham age 71. The ages 74 & 71 given for this couple are incorrect. Andrew Redd was b. 1830-making him age 24 at time of marriage. Lavina Barham was b. 1833-making her age 21 at time of marriage. This couple is on the 1856 & 1860 Allamakee co IA census and on the 1870-1900 Polk co. MO census. Andrew died in 1920-his death certificate is on the website MO Death Certificates 1910-1962. Lavina/Lovina died in 1907. Both are buried in the Reed cemetery, Polk co MO. Lavina is my 2nd cousin, 2 times removed.
